Top 6 South Congress Restaurants

Snack Bar

Love this local, casual, clever place featuring a locally sourced menu.  Wonderful breakfast/brunch.  The Veggie Hash with sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, corn, bacon and a poached egg is to die for.  Great burgers too.  Also open for lunch/dinner with a perfect covered patio just off SoCo.  Obvious the owners love what they do.

Guero's Taco Bar

Tacos, fresh margaritas, live music under sprawling oak trees.  An Austin original you should really try.  Inexpensive and very casual, always busy.  I like the Tacos al Pastor (pork) and the Tacos de Pescado (fish).  Serve breakfast on the weekends, lunch/dinner every day.

One of the first spots to bring South Congress to life serving pasta, risotto, pizza and salads.  Vespaio is a larger, upscale Italian.  Enoteca is its little sister next door - smaller, more casual and great patio.  Both use ingredients from their own garden.  Usually killer risotto.  Posh bar and cocktail area.  Reservations recommended.

Perla's Seafood & Oyster Bar

South Congress provides some of the finest people watching in Austin, and Perla's has a perfect perch to people watch.  Perla’s has one of the most spectacular patios on South Congress sheltered by beautiful oak trees, white tents and soft lights.  Have a well-dressed waiter bring you a delicious Sage Martini and some specialty oysters (or their truffle pomme frittes are addictive. )   Sit back, chill, enjoy.  P.S. They also always have a burger on the menu.

Ask anyone. If you want pizza they will tell you to go here!!  NY style, thin crust.  Have pizza by the slice and whole pies.  The pizza is better from HomeSlice vs. More Home Slice (take out only).

Cafe No Se

My girlfriend took me here for lunch and I was truly impressed.  First, it's beautiful, super chic decor.  Second, the food was excellent.  The cafe spread crudités and fresh poke bowl with big eye tuna, olives, pistachios, jalapeños, grapefruit was divine.  In the new South Congress Hotel.
